This one-day course will be focusing on hydraulic calculation of low pressure watermist systems. Participants will be introduced to and trained in the basic principles of the Canute FHC software.

Target audience:

VID Fire-Kill system designers and persons interested in gaining knowledge of basic hydraulics.
VID Fire-Kill installers and distributors wanting to refresh their knowledge of, or to learn the basics of using Canute FHC software.


For VID Fire-Kill system designers and installers to be confident in understanding the results and inputting data into Canute FHC software.

Learning Outcome

On completion of the VID Fire-Kill CPD course, delegates should have a good understanding of:

• Basic concepts of computerised hydraulic modelling relating to VID Fire-Kill products
• Hydraulic formulas to calculate flow through heads and pressure loss in pipes
• Node references in a hydraulic model
• Entering relevant VID Fire-Kill product data into FHC
• Undertake automatic sizing to pipework
• Entering pump flow and pressure data into the hydraulic model
• Producing hydraulic reports for checking and submitting to AHJ

It is desirable to bring a laptop with a working evaluation copy of Canute FHC installed. A copy will be available here:


The course will be held by authorized Canute hydraulic calculation instructor, Dean Reeve.

Sign-up for the one-day course should be done before March 15th, 2019, using the electronic sign-up form. After sign-up an invoice will automatically be sent to you which should be paid latest March 20th, 2019, by bank transfer. Credit card payment is not accepted.
